CANTON — The St. Lawrence County Family Court in conjunction with the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services will host an Adoption Event on Thursday, May 19, in the Supreme Court Courtroom.
The event is scheduled to commence at noon and is slated to include the adoptions of nine children ranging in age from 1 to 19 years into five families.
This event’s goal is to finalize the children’s adoptions while celebrating family.
The St. Lawrence County Family Court is pleased to announce that Tribal Chief Ronald LaFrance, Jr., of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, will perform a Blanket Ceremony for all participants to view after the children’s adoptions are completed.
David Handschuh, Representative of the Unified Court System Chief Judge Janet DiFiore’s Office, Commissioner of Social Services Joseph L. Seeber, County Attorney Stephen Button, Esq., attorneys for the respective adoptive children, attorneys for the adoptive parents, Indian Child Welfare Program Manager Jean Square, St. Lawrence County Adoption Unit Caseworkers and St. Regis Mohawk Tribe Caseworkers, as well as St. Lawrence County Legislators are expected to be in attendance.
