MASSENA —Several free solar eclipse programs will be held at Nicandri Nature Center March 1-April 7.
“What to Expect when you are Expecting an Eclipse” will be a kid and family-friendly lesson and activities will be offered March 2, 16, and 17 and April 3 and 7 at 2 p.m. each day.
A variety of crafts will be at the nature center”
Chalk art eclipses: March 1 and March 7 at 3:30 p.m., March 10 at 10 a.m. and March 22 at 3:30 p.m.
Constellation craft: March 13, 15, and 21 at 3:30 p.m., and March 30 at 2 p.m.
Eclipse spinners - March 3 and 9 at 2 p.m., and March 14 and 27 at 3:30 p.m.
Pinhole viewers: March 8 and 20 at 3:30 p.m., and March 24, April 6 and April 7 at 10 a.m.
Solar crafts all day during spring break April 1-7
Natural History Photography Club members will discuss solar photography and their plans for the eclipse March 16 at 9:30 a.m.
Solar astronomy presentations will be held March 30 at 10 a.m. with Elaine Fortin, Solar System Ambassador (NASA/JPL) and board member of the Adirondack Sky Center and Observatory in Upper Lake. Learn how and when eclipses occur and why the afternoon of April 8th will be filled with awe and wonder.
Astronomy 101 for kids and families to learn about our solar system and make a pocket solar system guide to take home will be held March 3 at 10 a.m., March 6 at 3:30 p.m., March 24 at 2 p.m., March 29 at 3:30 p.m. and April 6 at 2 p.m.
