St. Lawrence University junior alpine skier Ann West picked up a 17th place finish on Saturday in the slalom races at the 2011 EISA Championships hosted by Bates College at Sunday River.
Both the Saint men's and women's teams were seventh in the slalom, with West pacing the women's squad in 1:44.02. The Boulder, CO native picked up 25.0 points for her finish, while senior Kelly Skinner (36th) and sophomore Bridget Gilroy (43rd) capped the team's scoring.
Rookie Caroline Barry (DNF), junior Elena Rogers (DNF 2nd) and sophomore Ashley-Kate Durham (DNF 2nd) also competed for the Scarlet and Brown in the women's slalom.
Meanwhile, on the men's side, rookie Dustin Martin continued his impressive campaign with a 26th place showing in 1:38.84. Martin picked up 22.0 points, while senior Thatcher Jacques (30th) and rookie Nick Scalia (31st) rounded out the Saints' scoring.
The trio of rookie Ben DeFlavio and sophomores Cory Ransom and Pete Smith also competed in the men's slalom, but each failed to finish their second run.
The University of Vermont swept both the team and individual honors in slalom events on Saturday. The Catamounts won on both the men's and women's sides, while Tim Kelley and Megan Ryley earned individual honors.
Both the St. Lawrence men's and women's alpine teams will be in action again tomorrow on Day Two of the EISA Championships in the giant slalom.
