CANTON -- St. Lawrence University students to participate in a celebration of the Chinese New Year and will usher in the year of the sheep.
The event begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20 in Eben Holden on St. Lawrence University’s campus. Admission is free.
The celebration of the Chinese New Year will include performances of traditional and modern Chinese music and dancing, and it will feature students wearing traditional Chinese clothing.
Chinese students from Clarkson University will perform. The year of the sheep, which in the Chinese zodiac represents those who are gentle and calm yet who are also loyal and keen. People born in 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003 and 2015 are considered to have been born in the year of the sheep.
