SLC Public Health to hand out tick, COVID test kits on March 14 in Canton

CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Public Health Emergency Preparedness program conducted exercises annually before the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, during the pandemic, the focus was shifted to responding to real-life emergency activities.

The program will resume annual exercises after the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Declaration has ended. This year's exercise will be on March 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to practice providing items quickly to the public.

The event will take place at St. Lawrence University's Leithead Field House, 100 Park St. The activity aims to distribute tick and at-home COVID-19 test kits to the St. Lawrence County community.

The tick kits contain tweezers, band-aids, antibiotic ointment, and directions on how to remove a tick properly. The at-home test kits for COVID-19 include two tests and informative handouts.

The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department wants to ensure every community member who wishes to participate can receive the items. If you would like to request specific accommodations or make accessibility needs known before the event please contact 315-229-3425.
