CANTON -- Eighteen members of the Honey Dew Acres Riding Center and Northern Exposure Pony Club recently took honors at an equine quiz competition in Vermont.
There were three divisions - the Honey Dew/Northern Exposure teams won both senior divisions with members, Sarah McGowan of Tupper Lake and Emma Jean Burnham of Canton placing second and third individually in their division. Team members Elise Franck of Canton and Brigid Barstow of Potsdam tied for first individually. The junior teams placed second, fourth and fifth with Jillian Neaves of Gouverneur, Grace Sawyko of Canton, and Lauren Duchscherer of Massena individually placing first, second and third, respectively.
They will compete at future events in New York, Vermont and New Hampshire with the goal of going to a national event in Lexington, Ky.
