To the Editor:
I just received a mailing from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare that is pure propaganda.
Social Security will be out of money unless changes are made. None of the proposed reforms this committee is fighting will impact anyone 55 or older. This mailing, which was only sent to seniors, is a scare tactic being used to gain money at the expense of those who need it most and acquire petition signatures under false pretenses. Trying to scare seniors into signing and giving money is just wrong.
By fighting proposed reforms and leaving the system as it is, this committee is guaranteeing the demise of Social Security. I, for one, would like to see Social Security preserved for future generations.
I urge everyone to consider the facts and not sign this petition or send money to this questionable effort.
