Despite a second half comeback, the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team fell to Skidmore College, 82-69, Friday night in Saratoga Springs, NY.
St. Lawrence moves to 11-12 overall with a 7-5 mark in the Liberty League, while Skidmore improves to 15-9 with a 9-4 conference record. With the loss, the Saints have been eliminated from the Liberty League playoffs.
Junior Ralph Temgoua led the Saints with 21 points and six rebounds, while classmate Garrett Sharlow added 17 points, including 4-of-6 from three-point range, and grabbed six rebounds.
The Thoroughbreds controlled the game early, hitting 10 of 17 threes in the half en route to 46-19 first half lead. The Saints regrouped during halftime and came out strong in the second half, cutting its deficit down to seven (58-51) on a three-pointer by Sharlow with 7:14 to play. Skidmore built its lead back up to double-figures with 4:31 left and the Saints were unable to get any closer down the final stretch. The Saints will play their final game of the season tomorrow against Union. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00pm.
