CANTON -- A new Billy's Deli is opening on Main Street in the next couple of days.
Manager Ryan Mauch says the 40-seat deli at 109 Main St., across from the park, is ready except for some paperwork.
They might hit their target date this weekend, and if not, not long after.
"It looks great. It's really come together," Mauch said.
Billy's owner Con Mahoney of Mahoney's Auto Mall in Potsdam has re-established the Billy's name in Canton nearly 40 years after his first Billy's sub shop burned in 1974.
Mahoney opened a Billy's Deli in Potsdam last May on Main Street. The new Canton shop will have the same fare: Boar's Head meats and cheeses, and bread, chips and cookies from North Country producers. They will serve subs, sandwiches, wraps and salads, with seating for 40 -- larger than the Potsdam shop -- and a decor with a theme of the 1960s and ’70s.
It will be open every day from 10:30 a.m. “to 9 p.m. at least,” Mauch said.
Deliveries will be available during lunch, from 11:30 to 2:30, and dinner, from 5 to 7.
