The St. Lawrence University riding team claimed eight blue ribbons on Saturday to finish second at SUNY Geneseo, then added four more on Sunday and are in second place in the region after the first weekend of fall competition.

Amanda Gellis won her class in the open flat, Isaella DiNicola won her second intermediate flat class, Emma Levy won in walk trot canter, and Madeline Coakley won in walk trot. St. Lawrence had a great showing in the novice fences competition, with Maeve Cruikshank, Margaret Whitney and Maddie Hogan all winning their class. Serena Thorn also won at novice flat.

Hogan (novice flat) and Merle Beach (intermediate over fences) added second-place finishes for the Saints.

On Sunday, the field was very tightly bunched, with six teams within five points of Geneseo, which won at home with 33 points. The Saints had 28 points and are just five points behind Cazenovia in the team standings after the opening weekend of the season.

Coakley once again won her class in walk trot, while Lauren Nolan won both open fences and novice flat. Julia Robinson also had a win in the novice flat.

Amanda Gellis (open flat) and Lily Barnard (novice flat) added second-place finishes for the Saints.

Taylor Moon added a win in the alumni over fences and a second place finish in the alumni open flat.

The Saints go back to Geneseo on Saturday, then compete at Cazenovia on Sunday.
