The St. Lawrence University women's rowing team's novice 8+ won the bronze medal at the 2014 New York State Championships in Whitney Point, NY this weekend.
The Saints won their opening heat by nearly eight seconds to advance to the Grand Final. The crew then clocked in with a time of 7:56.45 to finish in third place overall, less than a second behind William Smith for silver and less than three seconds behind Ithaca for the state title. The Saints defeated RIT, the US Military Academy and Skidmore for the medal.
Sarah Heatherton coxed the bronze medal-winning novice 8+, while Laura Greshin, Emma Morgan, Sarah Evarts, Annie Williams, Jen Lifsitz, Keckeley Habel, Mikayla Thomas and Kailash Heron also represented St. Lawrence.
The Saints will compete again next weekend in the 2014 ECAC Championships on Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11, in Worcester, MA.
