St. Lawrence battled from behind in the third period for the third straight Friday, but had its six-game unbeaten streak snapped at Appleton Arena when Rensselaer senior wing CJ Lee scored on a shot from behind the goal line which deflected into the net off the blocker of goalie Matt Weninger for a 4-3 RPI win.

The Engineers, 11-11-5 overall and 6-6-3 jumped into fifth in the ECAC standings, a point in front of the 12-11-4, 5-6-4 Saints with the win while the Saints are now seventh in a tight race. RPI's win was its third straight and fifth in its last six games while the Saint overtime loss was the first in seven overtime games this season.

Junior wing Jeremy Wick gave the Saints an early lead as he scored on a power play from Greg Carey just 2:20 into the game. It was Wick's 11th goal of the season and his seventh in a six-game goal scoring streak. RPI came back with a pair of power play goals of its own to take a 2-1 lead as Matt Neal scored his fifth of the year at 7:26 and Ryan Haggerty put the Engineers in front at 9:54.

St. Lawrence senior Kyle Flanagan, who had a goal and an assist in the game tied the game with a power play goal 2:19 into the second period as each team scored on its first two power play chances of the game, but RPI went back in front when Nick Bailen scored his sixth of the season just seconds after a RPI power play had expired.

The Saints had a chance to tie it early in the third when they had 1:12 of five-on-three power play, but came up empty on two golden chances down low. Carey, who leads the nation in goal-scoring, picked up his 19th of the season on a power play at 13:13 of the third to make it 3-3 and it stayed that way until the midpoint of the overtime when Lee went deep into the corner in the offensive zone and wristed a shot toward the front of the net which hit Saint goalie Matt Weninger's blocker and deflected into the net for the game-winner.

Carey had a goal and two assists in the game for the Saints and now has 40 points in 27 games. Defenseman Justin Baker added two assists and George Hughes registered his 21st of the season.

Weninger finished with 29 saves for the Saints, who sustained their first overtime loss of the season while freshman Jason Kasdorf made 27 saves for the win for RPI.
