Potsdam, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team split a pair of games on the opening day of the Victory Promotions Invitational hosted by SUNY Potsdam on Friday. The Roos swept Buffalo State 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-16) before dropping a 3-0 match to Kean University (25-22, 25-22, 25-11).
Match 1 – Box Score
The Roos swept the Bengals in straight sets to open Friday's tournament behind a match-best 13 kills in the opening set. Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) led the Roo attack with 12 kills and eight digs, while Jenna Roat (Penfield, NY) tallied a match-high nine digs. Peyton Robinson (Bloomfield, NY) dished out 26 assists and Marissa Ixtahuac (Carthage, NY) recorded three block assists.

SUNY Canton hung tough in the opening two sets falling just by six points combined before dropping the third set 25-11. Cornish once again led the Roos with 11 kills and nine digs, while Haley Riley (Lowville, NY) posted seven putdowns. Roat posted 16 digs and Robinson dished out 23 assists.
The women's volleyball team returns to action in the Victory Promotions Invitational on Saturday when it takes on Southern Vermont College at 2 p.m. followed by a 4 p.m. match v. host SUNY Potsdam.
