Ronald E. Harvey, "Buck", 82, Norfolk

NORFOLK -- Ronald E. Harvey, ”Buck”, 82, of Norfolk, New York passed away on April 19, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse with family by his side.

Ronnie is survived by the love of his life, Joan O’Hara Harvey; four children, Ronda (Charles) Wagstaff, Ann (John) Margittay, Floyd (Kay) Harvey, and Rodrick (Amy) Harvey; seven grandchildren, Tara (Alex) Cotey, Chuck Wagstaff, Paige (Thomas) Fiacco, Amber (Bradley) Crump, Jessica Harvey, Cortney Wagstaff and Zachary Harvey; five great grandchildren, Odin, Alex Jr, Wyatt, Jade and Weston; and one sister, Patricia (Harvey) Moon.

He was pre-deceased by his parents; one sister, Joan M. Harvey and two brothers, Richard and Robert Harvey.

Ronnie was born on December 7, 1941, in Potsdam, New York to Floyd E. Harvey and Lucille (Martin) Harvey Moon.

He attended and graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School in 1962.

After high school he went on to work for the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 158 District 545 including jobs on the Nine Mile Nuclear Plant, Interstate-87 Highway and Northern Alignment electric transmission line. He was a proud member of the IUOE for over 55 years.

Ronnie was known to love watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, spending time at his favorite diner where he enjoyed his black coffee and old-fashioned donut.

He will always be remembered for his contagious laugh and his storytelling.

He loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. If there was an event in Norwood, he would be sure to stop and check it out.

He enjoyed making regular visits to his dog ”Sandy” every Sunday.

In accordance with his wishes there will be no calling hours.

Burial will be held on a later date at the Forest Cemetery in St. Regis Falls, New York.
