Roberta A. Wright, 78, Potsdam

POTSDAM- Roberta A. Wright, 78, of 900 State Highway 11B, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the University of Vermont Medical Center.

Roberta was born on February 5, 1945, in Potsdam, daughter of the late Sterling Scruton and Ordetta Mae (Klock) Sharpe.

She was a graduate of Madrid-Waddington High School and on April 20, 1968.

She married Frederick L. Wright at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Potsdam.

She worked for 28 years as a cafeteria worker for Potsdam Central School, having previously worked in the kitchen at the Potsdam Hospital.

She loved fishing, camping, train rides, playing bingo, and going to the Casino.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Roberta is survived by her husband, Fred; her two children, Valerie Ann (Frank) Scott of Norfolk; and Mark Wright of Heuvelton; two grandchildren, Anthony William Scott and Corey Nicholas Wright; and a great grandson, Mason Wright; six siblings, Alice (Donald) Grant of Syracuse; Judy Sitterly of S. Colton; Martha (Terry) Billings of Canton; Synthia (David) Carroll of Canton; William (Melody) Sharpe of Waddington; and David (Rhonda) Sharpe of Potsdam; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents Sterling and Ordetta, Roberta was also predeceased by a brother-in-law Richard Sitterly.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Roberta in the spring at a time and place to be announced.

Memorial donations may be made in Roberta’s memory to the Potsdam Humane Society.
