MASSENA -- A retired director of curriculum is being recommended to temporarily fill an elementary school principal vacancy until the district makes a permanent hire.
Superintendent Pat Brady says he recommends Evelyn Fiske, who retired as director of curriculum, to take the helm as Madison Elementary substitute principal until they hire someone.
Brady said six people applied for the job. Three of them were interviewed on Tuesday.
The superintendent also said they are seeking an athletic director. He said they haven’t been able to find anyone due to “high expectations of salary.”
The district has re-advertised for the AD post with a deadline of Aug. 22, Brady said, adding that retired AD Tim Hayes will substitute in the position until a replacement is found.
“We are also in the process of finalizing some teaching positions which I will discuss further at the [August Board of Education] meeting,” Brady wrote on the Massena Central School District website.
