Rance C. Benton, 73, Brasher Falls

BRASHER FALLS -- Rance C. Benton, 73, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, at his home under the loving care of his wife, sons, and Hospice.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday at High Peaks Winery, 805 Pickle Street, Winthrop from 12 to 1 pm with a time of sharing at 1 pm.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Rance was born in Potsdam on March 12, 1950, son of the late George and Leona (Rivers) Benton.

He graduated from Potsdam State with a BA in Anthropology.

He married Jane Collins on September 14, 1985, at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with Fr. Paul Kelly celebrating.

Rance worked at ALCOA in Massena for many years. Starting in the pot rooms and retiring from the purchasing department.

He played baseball in college and coached Little League, enjoyed motorcycles, sports cars, photography, golfing, paddling the flat water in his canoe, and watching stocks on his computer.

Rance is survived by his wife, Jane, his sons, Kyle of Brasher Falls and Collin of Potsdam, three grandchildren, Lily, Abel, and Macy and their mother Natalie, and his brother, Lex and Shelly Benton of NC and nieces, Sam, and Kate.

Flowers are gratefully declined.
