AKWESASNE -- The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe's Department of Planning and Infrastructure held a public meeting Dec. 15 to present construction plans for the Business Park Road Extension Project, which will connect the roadway from State Route 37 to McGee Road.
The road project is tentatively planned for construction in 2018, with last week's presentation providing an opportunity for local residents to view the plans and provide input.
Individual homeowners and representatives from the Akwesasne Tourism Working Group attended the meeting and provided feedback, such as the need for sidewalks, bicycle lanes and street lights.
The design will incorporate those safety elements and others, like turn lanes and pedestrian cross walks.
Individuals interested in viewing the final plans can contact Capital Projects Manager Colleen Thomas at (518) 358-4205, or stop by the Planning & Infrastructure Office, 12 Gray St., at the old fire station.
