In response to recent news that prison employees helped the prisoners escape, corrections officers and other prison employees appear to be on the defensive saying they are involved in tough work made more difficult by budget shortfalls and bureaucracy in Albany. Look the other way they insist. The problem is inside the walls. Prison commerce is not confined to Dannemora, and doesn’t include all employees. But, fixing the immoral behavior is the responsibility of prison management.
