CANTON — Nearly a month has passed since the last game for the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team, but the Golden Knights won't take long to get going in 2024 as the team hosts SUNY Canton on the second day of January in the New Year.
The Series: The Golden Knights have won 12 of 15 games against the Kangaroos, with just one loss since 2016. Clarkson has won the past three contests by double figures.
Key Stats for Clarkson (6-2): Grad student Ryan Miles-Ferguson ranks second in the Liberty League in scoring at 18.6 points per game, having boosted that number significantly over the past four contests in which he has averaged 21.3 points per game. Overall, Miles-Ferguson is shooting 45.5% from the field and is 50.0% (23-for-46) from beyond the 3-point arc. Three others are also scoring in double figures for Clarkson, which ranks second in the league in points per game (79.8 ppg). Freshman Braeden Burns produces 13.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, while Jack Dalgety and Matteo Sinon are at 10.8 ppg and 10.6 ppg, respectively. Sinon is also adding 3.6 assists per contest.
Key Stats for SUNY Canton (5-9): While the Knights haven't played in a month, the Roos are coming off a holiday tournament where they played two games just this past weekend. Kevin Goode, Jr. leads the team in scoring at 12.2 points per contest, being particularly efficient from the free throw line at 51-for-61 (83.6%). Bryon Streb also is scoring in double figures at 10.5 points per contest, with a few other Canton players just short of that figure. Brennan Harmer does a little bit of everything for the Roos, averaging 7.0 points per game with a team-high 22 3-pointers while also chipping in 3.6 assists and 2.3 steals per contest.
