POTSDAM -- A 22-year-old woman has been jailed after she was accused of wielding a knife during a domestic incident with a child present and leading police on a three-hour search
Valerie L. Jessmer, 22, of Potsdam was charged Sunday at 11:37 p.m. with criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use, second-degree menacing, endangering the welfare of a child and first-degree criminal contempt for violating an order of protection.
Village police responded to a domestic dispute at Debra Drive where Jessmer was accused of using a knife.
Jessmer fled the scene before police arrived. Officers made contact with the victim who was not injured along with a child who was present during the incident who was also uninjured, police said.
Police then searched for Jessmer for approximately three hours before she returned to her apartment where she was taken into custody.
Jessmer was arraigned by Village Justice Pignone and remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $1,000 bond or $500 cash.
