POTSDAM -- Village police say they cited nine drivers with traffic violations on Saturday as part of an ongoing crackdown funded by Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office's Traffic Safety Committee.
Police say they will use marked and unmarked cars, bike and foot patrols and expect the initiative to last through summer.
"These details focus enforcement on aggressive driving behaviors, as well as seatbelt, cellphone and electronic device violations," Potsdam Police said in a statement.
Those charged include:
Kimberly D. Damon, 46 of Potsdam - no seat belt
Evan A. Jennings, 19 of Lowville - no seat belt
Joseph G. LaShomb, 38 of Colton - no seat belt
Joseph A. Bavuso, 18 of Cortland Manor - driving wrong way on a one-way street
Alyssa N. Moore, 26 of Potsdam - no seat belt
Roseanne M. LaRock, 31 of Waddington - operating motor vehicle while using cell phone
Bryce A. Brueder, 18 of Glens Falls - no seat belt
Matthew F. Swart, 19 of Amsterdam - no seat belt, front passenger
Thomas H. Depue, 28 of Brackney, Penn. - no seat belt
Also cited on Saturday, unrelated to the initiative were:
Brandon J. Benedict, 25, of Hogansburg was charged with failure to turn as required at 10:27 p.m. on Market Street. He is to appear in Potsdam Village Court on April 10 at 8:30 a.m.
Dustin T. Gotham, 25, of Canton was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to obey a traffic control device at 10:26 p.m. on Maple Street. He is to appear in Potsdam Village Court on April 10 at 9:30 a.m.
