POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Neighborhood Center is taking orders for the August Food Sense program.
The Food Sense program is a food purchasing cooperative program that allows customers to buy a food package at the rate of $15.50, but is valued at $25 to $30. Each month is a different package, and there are additional items that can be added on.
For August the package consists of ground beef (1 lb.), fish sticks (1 lb.), pork chops (1 lb.), bologna (12 oz.), tuna fish (5 oz.), fresh potato salad (1 lb.), mixed vegetables (1 lb.), egg noodles (1 lb.), tuna helper (10.5 oz), vegetarian beans (15 oz.), and two fresh produce items.
Call the center at 265-3920 for add-on and bonus items, and to place your order before Aug. 9. Packages can be picked up Aug. 23 between 10:30 a.m. and noon or 1 and 3 p.m. at the Potsdam Neighborhood Center, 2 Park St., downstairs from the Potsdam Library.
The Food Sense program is offered to all who wish to stretch their food budgets. Those who receive SNAP or Food Stamps is encouraged to use them to purchase a Food Sense package. Call the number above with any questions.
