POTSDAM – A Potsdam man faces multiple charges after he allegedly lit fire to a toilet seat and a computer chair during a domestic violence incident.
Nicolas H. Scott, 27, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment following a state police investigation into a Jan. 16 incident.
Troopers had to extinguish two small fires outside, near the front door of the residence, which were found to have been set by Scott.
Police say Scott had engaged in an altercation with the 34-year-old female victim in which he pulled a toilet seat off the hinges and threw it through a window inside the residence. He then took the toilet seat and a computer chair and set them on fire outside the residence, police said.
Scott then fled the residence on foot, police said. He was located and arrested by a New York State Police K9 unit and was found to have minor lacerations to his hands, according to troopers.
Potsdam Rescue arrived on scene and treated the lacerations. He was arraigned in the Waddington Town Court where he was released under the supervision of probation, police said.
