CANTON -- A Potsdam man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash this spring that killed a Canton man, according to state police.
Cody J. Schweinberg, 19, was charged Friday morning with criminally negligent homicide, felony, officers said.
The charge stems from a car crash April 17 around 8 a.m. Police say a 2008 Honda Civic being operated by Schweinberg, of Madrid at the time, crashed into a tree while traveling north on Irish Settlement Road.
A passenger, 20-year old Tyler A. Bessette of Canton, was killed at the scene.
A second passenger, Nathaniel C. Pennyman, Calcium, was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital and later transferred to Upstate Medical in Syracuse for treatment for his injuries.
Schweinberg was taken to CPH at the time of the accident for injuries sustained during the accident.
Schweinberg was listed as held by state police.
