POTSDAM – A Potsdam man is accused of raping a girl under 17 several times, and possession of a stolen pistol.
Gregory E. Brown Jr., 26, Evergreen Park, Racquette Road, was arrested at his residence by Potsdam police Thursday and was charged with three counts of third-degree rape, for the alleged rape of a female under 17 on numerous occasions dating back to August, and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property: handgun, when police said they found a loaded 9 mm pistol in his possession. Police said the gun had been stolen.
Brown was arraigned before Village Justice Garner and was sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $7,000 cash bail or $14,000 bond.
Further charges are pending and the investigation is continuing, police said.
The Potsdam Police Department was assisted in the investigation by St. Lawrence County Child Protective Services.
