POTSDAM -- AAUW-St. Lawrence County along with the Potsdam Public Library will host an “Hour of Code” on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to kick off national Engineer’s Week celebration.
It will be held at the Potsdam Public Library’s computer lab for students ages 9-12 and led by Sarah Sachs, Youth Services librarian, and Jeanna Matthews, Associate Professor Mathematics & Computer Science at Clarkson University. “Learning to program is fun and it is a gateway to many exciting careers.
Writing code has even been called the ‘new literacy’ for the 21st century. Come spend an hour getting a taste of programming,” said Jeanna Matthews. “Students will spend a full hour using laptops and a variety of portable devices to experiment with writing code. Bring a smart phone, tablet or laptop if you have one.
