POTSDAM – Athletes planning to participate in fall middle and high school sports Potsdam athletes can attend a free pre-season sports screening this Saturday, June 9 in the A.A. Kingston Middle School gymnasium.
The goal of the screening is to reduce the potential for sports-related injuries.
Physical therapists and therapy assistants from Canton-Potsdam Hospital, along with Clarkson University physical therapy doctoral students and Dr. Luc Perrier, will offer the free screening, exclusively for Potsdam middle and high school students. It will check specific movements to help determine if the player is at risk for non-contact injuries. Recommendations will be offered.
Screening results will have no impact on any athlete’s eligibility to participate in fall sports. The organizers hope this will raise students’ awareness of potential for injury while giving them the entire summer to improve any areas identified.
Interested students must sign up through the Athletic Department at their school.
