POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam golf team edged Clarkson University 314 to 316 to capture the 2012 Bears Fall Invitational on Tuesday. Bears sophomore Austin Pivetta birdied the second playoff hole to down Golden Knight Tyler Cline and become the individual medalist. Despite matching Clarkson with a team score of 316, Oswego State lost the tiebreaker and finished third. SUNY Canton finished fourth, shooting a 345.
Pivetta finished with a 75 on the afternoon. Senior Andrew Homes was right on his heals with a 77. Sophomore Matt Supernault and freshman Conor Talty each had an 81 on the afternoon and freshman John Hickey shot an 84 to round out the five-man team. Competing as individuals, freshmen Tyler Carrow and Harrison Davenport finished with an 84 and a 94, respectively.
The golf team is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 8 in Canton, when the Bears begin competition at the two-day St. Lawrence Invitational.
