To the Editor:
Dear fellow Village of Potsdam neighbors in Legislative District 10 of St. Lawrence County. Brenda Spurbeck is one of the candidates who seeks the legislative seat for district 10, the Village of Potsdam.
Brenda is a practicing healthcare professional - with a doctorate degree in nursing practice- and is new to politics. She has been serving the community since her arrival here in 2017. Service for others is a foundational underpinning of her character. Brenda's ethics show in her work and in her history of volunteerism, improving people's daily lives.
I have seen her go out of her way to lend a helping hand. Candidates’ ethics in government conduct are among the issues in this local legislative contest, with countywide implications. It is clear that Brenda, unlike her opponent, will be clear of any conflicts of interest on decisions about the county’s largest department, Social Services.
Brenda was approached by and encouraged to run for this position by several community members, as we feel it is beneficial to the county to have more health care providers on the county board, especially in the midst of a health crisis.
Brenda has been attending the county board meetings in person for several months, learning about how county government is conducted. This has given her inspiration and incentive to become more involved. The county government has been on a positive track in recent years, and she wants to help keep it moving in the right direction, especially during this pandemic.
Dear neighbors in the village of Potsdam district 10, Brenda is not like previous electeds; she is a new name, with fresh ideas, determination, and a passion for service. She will foster a fresh look at how to do things better for her district and for the county.
We all have an opportunity to be part of a positive change, for the sake of the county please participate by voting for Brenda Spurbeck. You can find more information about her on her Facebook page, brendaspurbeck4legislator or email at brenda.spurbeck@gmail.com. Getting involved is what we all need to do and this is what we can expect from Brenda.
