To the Editor:
Anti-Americanism comes in many forms. We have seen our country attacked by foreign foes, we have seen our flag burned with impunity in American cities. Now we see our national anthem disrespected in our sports stadiums, a disrespect shown by refusing to stand when the anthem is played, an act of anti-Americanism euphemistically referred to as "taking the knee"; for even those who publicly disparage the anthem are reluctant to characterize their own actions truthfully.
It is disgraceful that these football players, coaches, and team owners should use the sports stadium as a venue in which to insult the United States.
Thank heaven we have a patriotic president who loves his country and who is not afraid to declare that anti-Americanism has no place on our nation's playing fields.
