COLTON — One person was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for injuries sustained during an accident with a school bus this morning, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies are investigating an accident involving a Colton-Pierrepont Central school bus and a car that took place around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of State Highway 56 and County Route 24.
Fourteen students were on the bus at the time it was struck from behind, but were uninjured, officers said. The bus driver was also uninjured.
Deputies did not release the name of the injured driver of the car.
The driver was taken by Colton rescue to CPH for unspecified injuries, deputies said.
Officers said the bus was traveling south on SH 56, preparing to make a right turn onto CR 24 when it was rear-ended by the car which was also traveling south.
State police, Potsdam rescue, Hannawa Falls Fire Department, Pierrepont Fire Department and Colton Fire and Rescue were all on scene assisting.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
Deputies did not say if they expect anyone to be charged.
