MASSENA -- One lane of State Rt. 131 in Massena has been opened as efforts to clear an overturned fuel truck continue.
The driver of the Econo-Fuels truck, 38-year-old Chris R. Laprade, suffered minor injury in the accident, which is believed to have been caused by a broken front leaf spring, according to state police.
The accident occurred just before 10 a.m. along State Rt. 131 near Alcoa Road between Pontoon Bridge Road and Dennison Road.
The truck was carrying 500 gallons of kerosene and 1500 gallons of fuel oil, and lost an estimated 75 gallons when the truck rolled and partially blocked the road.
Troopers shut the road while troopers, the New York Department of Environmental Conservation Spill Response unit, the state police Commercial Vehicle Unit, and a fire department did their work.
The road has been re-opened for one lane of traffic, according to sate police.
