OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Parks & Recreation Department’s Elsa M. Luksich Municipal Pool will open Saturday at noon for the summer season. Cost per child is 50 cents and adults are $1.

The department will offer:

Swimming lessons: For all skill levels. The instructors are fully certified and will offer the standard Red Cross program. Each child will be placed in a half-hour time slot determined on the testing days. The lessons are for children ages 4 to 14 and will be Monday through Friday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Testing and group assignments will be held June 24 to 26. Lessons will be held from June 29 to July 31. Fee is $25.

Infant and toddler swim: This aquatic program has been developed to acquaint infants and toddlers ages 6-months to 4 years old to the water and as an introduction to the pre-school aquatics programs. Its goal is to make the children comfortable in and around water and introduce some safety skills. The swimming companion will be taught how to use various holds and techniques to help the child get acclimated to the pool. There will be two swim instructors conducting classes and helping all the participants. A parent, guardian, babysitter or responsible adult must be willing to accompany child in the water. The swim will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to noon July 7 to 30 at the municipal pool. Fee is $12.

Early bird adult swim: This adult-only program is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:15 to 7:15 a.m. and will begin June 22 and will go until Aug. 21. Cost is $65 for the season or $3 per day.

Pool parties: The department is now booking pool parties from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and Sundays in June, July and August. The two-hour span would occur prior to public swimming opening at noon on the weekends. Cost will be $50 an hour. To sign up for a pool party, stop by the Dobisky Visitor’s Center, 100 Riverside Ave., Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Pool passes for the season are $10 for children, adults are $20 and family passes are $35 for up to five people.
