OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg City School District Board of Education approved a donation Monday of $5,000 for varsity football jerseys posthumously gifted to the school by Michael A. Delduchetto, a 1960 graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy.
Delduchetto was born in Ogdensburg on March 4, 1942 and excelled as a highly decorated lineman on the football teams at OFA and St. Lawrence University.
After graduating from SLU in 1964, Delduchetto earned an MBA from the University at Buffalo in 1969 before serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was honorably discharged and awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal.
In 1979, Delduchetto formed the Excalibur Management Corporation in Boston and Newton, Mass.
He passed away at his home in Sudbury, Mass. on Nov. 23, 2015.
Athletic Director Tony Bjork said that special jerseys with a commemorative patch honoring Mr. Delduchetto will be designed and worn once per season.
School Board President Ron Johnson and other officials expressed appreciation for the donation, which was arranged by Delduchetto's son, Michael W. Delduchetto.
