OGDENSBURG – City council agreed to sell the former Newell building in order to facilitate a deal that is estimated to create 40 jobs in the next five years.
On Monday the council agreed to sell the property to River Vista Holdings, Inc. for $66,734. The sale won’t become official until approved by the city attorney.
Canexsys Networks, Inc. intends to occupy the space this spring. The company plans to offers circuit board assembly, plastic injection molding and light metal fabrication.
The company plans to hire more than 40 workers over the next three to five years.
The property, which was taken over by the city in 2012, will be acquired by River Vista Holdings, which is an affiliate of Canexsys as part of the $3.7 million project to revitalize and reuse the facility.
Canexsys’ partner companies include engineering and design services, electronic assembly, component manufacturing and logistics.
