OGDENSBURG – Amvets Post 19 Auxiliary is planning to give a military veteran in need $1,000 to help pay for house, car or other repairs.
“We will spend up to a $1,000 to help a vet in need,” said Charlene Romano in an email message. “If they need help on their house, fix a car or whatever.”
The post will choose a recipient from among vets who send in a letter describing their need.
Letters stating what they need and why they need help with it. will be accepted until Aug. 1.
The letters will be read by a committee which will decide who needs the help the most. Letters can be sent to Judy Brabaw, 310 Albany Ave., Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
