MASSENA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will continue its “Beat the Heat Summer Movie Days” every Tuesday in August at the admission-free Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch in Massena.
The special summer campaign, which is in addition to the visitors center’s Friday matinee movie series, features a full day of free movies and popcorn every Tuesday during the month of August. Family-friendly films will be shown at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the visitors center’s air-conditioned auditorium.
The schedule for August is:
Aug. 7:
10 a.m. “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs”
1 p.m. “Zookeeper”
3 p.m. “Stuart Little”
Aug. 14:
10 a.m. “The Smurfs”
1 p.m. “Ramona and Beezus”
3 p.m. “Tangled”
Aug. 21:
10 a.m. “Winnie the Pooh”
1 p.m. “The Lorax”
3 p.m. “Rango”
Aug. 28:
10 a.m. “Monte Carlo”
1 p.m. “Kung Fu Panda 2”
3 p.m. “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules”
Besides enjoying the movies, visitors can sample the array of hands-on exhibits at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center, which presents information on such themes as electricity generation and the St. Lawrence-FDR project, basics of electricity and uses of electricity. Another highlight is the panoramic view of the project’s power dam.
