NORWOOD – The Norwood Volunteer Fire Department is asking for contributions to cover the $5,500 cost of the popular fireworks display for its 77th annual 4th of July Field Day.
NVFD Treasurer Tim Donohue said they have raised about half of the cost, partly from a $2 entrance fee to the park, and from donations from generous business, organizations and individuals, such as Perry’s Big M, which contributed $1,000.
“A two dollar entrance fee to the park doesn’t begin to pay or cover this cost. Hundreds of spectators line the streets of Norwood and fill the Village Parks to enjoy the show,” said Donohue in a letter.
“Your contributions of your hard earned money are most appreciated and allow us the opportunity to continue to serve our community as well,” Donohue said.
Those who would like to make a taxable donation for the fireworks can send it to Norwood Fire Dept., C/0 Tim Donahue, 38 Baldwin Ave., Norwood, NY 13668.
