North Country This Week
CANTON – There will be No Parking on a stretch of Pearl Street from the entrance to Community Bank to Court Street from Nov. 30 to March 31, 2023.
On Wednesday night, Nov. 16, the village board approved a resolution to ban parking in 4 to 5 parking spaces during the winter months; a move that will improve plowing conditions for village Department of Public Works plow crews.
“It is determined that vehicular parking along the south side of Pearl Street near the intersection of Pearl Street and Court Street interferes with the ability of the Village DPW to safety clear the intersection from snow accumulations during the winter months,” the resolution reads.
The ban restriction encompasses approximately 169 of the roadway on Pearl Street.
Cones will be placed to alert motorists of the new parking ban with signage to be installed in the near future.
A public hearing preceded Wednesday’s monthly village board meeting.
