NICHOLVILLE – A Nicholville man was arrested Thursday for stealing a Kubota tractor from a Nicholville residence in early December and allegedly selling it to someone from Vermont, according to Massena-based state police.
Mikle N. Lavare, 26, was charged with third-degree grand larceny, felony, and providing a false written statement, troopers said.
Police said they investigated the theft of the tractor and interviewed Lavare about the theft where he initially provided them with a false statement.
The buyer allegedly met Lavare in Ellenburg to purchase the tractor on Dec. 5 and is would be unaware that the tractor was stolen, police said.
The tractor reportedly still has not been located.
State police are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of the tractor to call them at 769-8406 or 379-0012.
He was arraigned in Massena Town Court and released under the supervision of probation, police said.
He is scheduled to answer the charges in court Jan. 22 at 5 p.m., troopers said.
