Mayor Alexandra Jacobs-Wilke (at right in both photos above) held her first swearing in of new officers at the Potsdam Police Department on Jan. 29. Dias Barnett (in the top photo at left), a SUNY Potsdam student originally from Nyack New York, and Brenden Flanagan (in the bottom photo at left) of Massena, took their oaths of office with family and fellow PD members looking on. Barnett, having previously completed the first phase of his police academy at SUNY Potsdam last year, will begin his final steps towards police certification this month. Flanagan has already started his training with the David Sullivan Police Academy at SUNY Canton and will be hitting the road for field training after graduation in June.
