CANTON — TAUNY, 53 Main St., will host an open house with music, food and food demos, the gingerbread contest, and kids activities on Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
"Stop in and enjoy some treats while you vote for your favorite gingerbread creation in the Sugar and Spice exhibit, pick up your wreath order, and of course, tackle some holiday shopping made easy by the regional artists and craftspeople selling their wares at the Folkstore," says TAUNY's communication director, Aviva Gold.
The day's lineup includes a book signing by "Stable Views--Stories and Voices from the Thoroughbred Racetrack" author Ellen McHale, food demonstrations, including a traditional sugarplum, by Rose Rivezzi; a children's story hour with Valerie White, crafts, refreshments, and more.
Music throughout the day will include the Goldenaires, Gretchen Koehler and the Madstop Fiddlers, and Old-time with Camilla Ammirati and Friends.
"Whether you're breathing in the scent of homemade cookies, balsam, and fresh citrus in the air, listening to the sound of fiddles and voices, testing the coziness of a pair of felted mittens, or tasting traditional holiday treats--there will be something to delight all the senses! Come join us at the Holiday Open House not only to check out the extended holiday Folkstore but also just to get into the holiday spirit with all of us here at TAUNY" says TAUNY's director of research and programs, Camilla Ammirati.
