MASSENA -- The Friends of the Robert Moses State Park Nature Center will host several Memorial Day weekend events.
All events will begin at the center trail head.
A flower pounding workshop will be held Saturday, May 25 from 2 to 3 p.m. Participants will make bookmarks inspired by nature. Meet at the picnic tables and bring a hammer.
A campfire cooking course will be offered Saturday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nature Center staff will demonstrate how to make “speared apple desserts” over an open fire pit. A $1 donation will apply.
An outdoor yoga session for kids will be offered Sunday, May 26 from 11 a.m. to noon. The session will include games of “red light, green light” and tag.
A nature print workshop will be offered from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday. Participants will learn to make prints from items found in nature. Each participant will make a card to keep.
A nature painting workshop will follow. Take a guided hike through the nature trails and learn to paint a landscape scene from 1 to 3 p.m.
A workshop on herbal remedies will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The workshop will cover how to make herbal tinctures for healthcare remedies. Meet at the trail head.
A guided bird walk will be offered Memorial Day, May 27 from 9 to 10 a.m. Staff will show participants how to identify various birds. Binoculars will be available.
A needle felting workshop will be offered Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. Staff will demonstrate how to make a colorful, three-dimensional sculpture using needle felting and colored wool.
