Bobby McKenney, a 1976 graduate of Hugh C. Williams High School in Canton and long-time Syracuse-area high school basketball coach, was inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame in a ceremony held recently in Troy.

McKenney has recorded more than 600 wins, five state championships and a couple of Federation titles during his tenure as varsity basketball coach at Jamesville-DeWitt Central School and now Bishop Grimes High School.

McKenney joins his high school teammate Hal Cohen (Class of 2018), Hal’s father Stan Cohen (2014), a long-time college coach, and Bill Merna (2009), long-time boys varsity basketball coach at Ogdensburg Free Academy.

Among members inducted in the 2024 Class with McKenney were NBA legends Earl “The Pearl” Monroe and Calvin Murphy.
