MASSENA -- After some debate about the need to fill an upcoming vacancy at the Department of Public Works, the Board of Trustees voted 4-0 to hire Jon-Paul Gagner as a motor equipment operator.
“What would the immediate impact be of not filling?” Deputy Mayor Matt Lebire said.
“Two weeks ago, we had a storm and not enough employees to plow the snow. It depends on the type of service you want,” DPW Superintendent Hassan Fayad said. “We’re going to have a tremendous turnover within a year and a half to two years.”
Fayad said he wants to hire Gagner to fill a vacancy coming up on Feb. 3.
