MASSENA -- A Massena man on parole was jailed Wednesday after being arrested for failing to report to his parole officer as required.
Raymond E. Artz, 38, of 108 Liberty Ave., was arrested at 3:45 p.m. on a parole violation warrant, according to village police. He was taken into custody at the footbridge, police said.
Artz was wanted as an absconder, meaning he had not reported to his parole officer as required, according to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision media relations office.
He is being held in the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, without bail pending a hearing, police said.
Artz was released on parole from the Willard Drug Treatment Facility on April 9, where he had been serving a sentence of two to six years for felony counts of driving while ability impaired by drugs or alcohol, his third offense in 10 years, and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.
