MASSENA -- A village resident is jailed on $50,000 bail after being charged with robbery for allegedly entering a home without permission and stealing $4.
Edward J. Slade, 24, of 466 State Rte. 131, Massena is charged with third-degree robbery and second-degree burglary, both felonies, and misdemeanor second-degree criminal contempt.
Slade allegedly walked into Ricky Allen’s house without permission at 34 Center St. on Saturday. Allen had a pair of pants on the floor and told police that Slade starting going through them looking for money. Allen told police took the pants back and told Slade to leave, but Slade pushed him to the ground and took $4 from one of the pockets.
Slade was charged at 3:05 p.m. Sunday, police said. He was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald Sharlow and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond, police said.
