Massena Library remains committed to providing quality services

To the Editor:

The Massena Public Library trustees, director and staff are committed to providing quality library services to all community members while utilizing public resources in a responsible manner. To do that, a proposition was put forth to create a library district that would broaden the base of support, provide more equitable funding that better represented library users, and provide stable and secure funding for the future. We are grateful for all the support shown to the library in the lead up to this referendum.

We hope that more people have come to realize the continuing value the library provides to individuals and the community through its resources and activities. Though this proposition to form and fund a library district was not approved, the library will continue as a municipal library with an annual allocation from the Town of Massena. The library looks forward to working with the town to explore options to adequately fund the library. Working with a variety of community organizations, the town, village and school district, the library can improve residents’ lives.

Please stay informed about library activities by visiting the library website at massenapubliclibrary.org and following the library on Facebook. If you have any questions, contact the library trustees at mpl_trustees@outlook.com or contact the library at 315-769-9914.

Thank you for your support of the Massena Public Library.

Joseph Savoca,
President
