MADRID -- Students at Madrid-Waddington Central School, 2582 State Highway 345, will present "Seussical" March 26-28 at 8 p.m. each night.
The show lasts about two hours with a 15 minutes intermission with refreshments.
"Seussical" is based on the works of Dr. Seuss and weaves together his most famous tales and characters from at least fifteen of his books.
The show follows the adventures of Horton, an elephant who one day hears voices coming from a speck of dust. He soon discovers that within this tiny speck exists the smallest planet in the universe. On this tiny planet lives a tiny race of creatures known as Whos.
Although ridiculed by the other animals in the Jungle of Nool for believing in something he cannot see, Horton stubbornly persists in his belief that the Whos exist.
The all student cast ranges in ages from seven to 18 years old.
Pre-sale tickets go on sale March 20 by calling 322-5746 ext. 172. Tickets will be available at the door the nights of the show. Prices range from $7-12.
The cast includes Cassidy Scott as The Cat in the Hat, Grace Plumley as JoJo, Tyler Allen as Horton, Emily Pelkey as Gertrude McFuzz, Corinne McKnight as Mayzie La Bird, Bethany Sochia as Sour Kangaroo, Aoife Burke as Young Kangaroo, Josh Reed as Mr. Mayor, Amelia Bailey as Mrs. Mayor and Wade Lawrence as the Grinch.
Other cast members include Alexis Wells as General Gengus Khan Schmitz, Dia Richards as Judge Yertle the Turtle, Wade Lawrence as Vlad Vladikoff, Emma Maskell as Thing 1, Caeleigh Burke as Thing 2 and Ava Rutheford, Jessica Evans, Avery Hill, Matthew Reed, Tanner Smith and Kassidy Roberts as Cadets.
Emily Giorgi, Ally Giorgi, Maria Langford, Karina Norman, Danielle Hough and Emily Bracy will perform as Bird Girls. Whos will be portrayed by Addison Grandy, Abby Sabre, Jessica Evans, Kassidy Roberts, Angelie Bush, Avery Hill, Autumn Wilson, Madison White, Alexis Cole, Ava Rutheford, Landon Sharlow, Matthew Reed, Payen Ashley, Tanner Smith, Bailey Giorgi, Edward Miller, Elliott Woodward, Cheyeanne Wilson and Joshua Hobkirk.
Jungle/circus/fish/hunches will be played by Gabriella Scott, Sara Evans, Brianna Hammond, Breanna Bouchey, Katlyn Dominy, Lydia Maskell, Emily Fecketter, Katharine Dinneen, Alexis Wells, Maria Allen, Dia Richards, Eve Higginson and Sarah Weaver.
